NAVARRE – Ralph “Gene” Henderson, age 77, passed away on December 1, 2010. Born on August 31, 1933 in Massillon to Ralph P. and Verna Mae (Slater) Henderson, he was a resident of Navarre for the past six years, previously of Jackson Twp. and Barberton. Retired from Rexal Corp., he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Gene was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, a 52 year member of the Boy Scouts of America, Great Trail Council where he was awarded the Silver Beaver Award, BSA Old Timers Club, Norton Grand Squares Square Dance Club, Knights of Columbus, Council 14111. Gene had been vice president of the Akron Square Dance Federation. Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife of 46 years, Millie; sons, Tim (Tracie) of Atlanta, GA, Joe (Holly) of Jackson Twp., Scott (Abby) of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Zane, Garen, and Rafe; brother, Jack Henderson of Doylestown. The family wishes to thank Dr. Rafique and the staff at Tri-County Oncology, especially Veronica Edminson for being a special friend.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, December 6, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Barberton, 44203 with Fr. Robert Jackson, Celebrant.
